Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate SEMICON India 2026 on September 17 at Yashobhoomi, the India International Convention and Expo Centre in New Delhi, organisers have confirmed. The three-day conference and exhibition runs through September 19 under the theme "Transform Tomorrow: Silicon to Systems – Building the Ecosystem."

The event is expected to draw global semiconductor companies, policymakers, industry leaders, researchers, startups and academic institutions, with a roundtable of global chip-industry CEOs on the agenda alongside the main conference programme.

SEMICON India is positioned as a marker of India's push to build a complete, globally competitive semiconductor ecosystem spanning design, manufacturing, packaging, materials, equipment, electronics systems, research, innovation and talent development — rather than a single fabrication plant in isolation.

The summit follows a run of government-backed semiconductor initiatives over the past two years, as India seeks to position itself as an alternative manufacturing base amid a broader global reshuffling of chip supply chains.
